There are five categories of º£½ÇÉçÇøCI-approved study abroad options, each with a different application and selection process. Consider what type of program best aligns to your needs and start planning. 

What are the categories of study abroad options?

  1. º£½ÇÉçÇø IP: Programs offered by º£½ÇÉçÇø International Programs, the systemwide study abroad program for all º£½ÇÉçÇø students. Available for the semester, academic year, or calendar year. 
  2. Exchange: Programs offered as bilateral exchange between º£½ÇÉçÇøCI students and global partner universities. Available for the semester or academic year. 
  3. Direct Enroll: Usually short-term programs (2 weeks to 1 month) offered by global exchange partners during the summer and/or winter intersession..
  4. ±Ê°ù´Ç±¹¾±»å±ð°ù:ÌýFlexible start/end dates and program lengths. Administered by independent study abroad organizations. Program fees are paid directly to the provider.
  5. ¹ó²¹³¦³Ü±ô³Ù²â-±ô±ð»å:ÌýStudents go abroad as part of a º£½ÇÉçÇøCI course led by faculty. For more information, see "University 392" under the section marked "Related Pages."

What program fits your language skills and goals?

  • Full Immersion English-Taught Programs - Students take courses fully taught in English while being immersed in a new academic and cultural environment.
  • Language & Culture Programs - Students spend majority of time abroad in language and culture acquisition courses. Students may also take 1-2 courses taught in English in their major/minor. Students can earn GE credit.
  • Full Immersion Local Language Programs - Students take coursework in various subjects taught in the local language. Language proficiency (4+ semesters of language) or native fluency is required.
  • Study Center Program - Students attend the º£½ÇÉçÇø Florence Center campus with other º£½ÇÉçÇø study abroad students.

Where can you go?

º£½ÇÉçÇøCI has programs in over  20 countries around the world. 

How long can you go?

  • Academic Year (AY) - Programs follow the academic calendar. Students begin in fall and end after the spring term. Most programs are AY programs.
  • Calendar Year (CY)- Programs follow the calendar year. Students begin in January/February and study for the duration of the year. CY programs include those in Australia, Chile, and South Africa.
  • Semester Only - Programs are offered for one semester only (Fall or Spring).
  • ³§³ó´Ç°ù³Ù-°Õ±ð°ù³¾Ìý- Programs available for the summer or winter term. Programs can be two weeks to one month.

What are the deadlines to apply?

  • September 15- Priority deadline for Spring Semester and Calendar Year programs.
  • February 15 - Priority deadline for Fall Semester and Academic Year programs.
  • Rolling deadlines for Summer & Winter

What are helpful tips if you considering study abroad?

  • Get a passport (or make sure your passport is valid 6 months after your estimated date of return)!
  • Pay attention to deadlines and create a timeline. It is never too early to start planning.
  • Check out our Instagram for up-to-date events and study abroad stories!
  • Attend events with an international focus (Conversation Cafés, participating in Buddy Program, opportunities to network with study abroad alumni). 
  • Research! Read blogs. Browse through the host university's website. Explore the local restaurant scene. Check out the weather. Get an idea for what it may feel like living in that country.
