May 6, 2025 - 海角社区 Channel Islands (海角社区CI) will celebrate the graduating Class of 2025
during two ceremonies at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Almost 1,500 of the 2,198 students eligible to graduate will participate during one of the ceremonies. Students will participate in either the morning or afternoon ceremony depending on their academic major. Over 550 students will graduate with academic honors.
The morning ceremony will include undergraduate students in 15 academic programs including Anthropology, Art, Chicana/o Studies, Communication, Dance Studies, Early Childhood Studies, English, History, Liberal Studies, Music, Psychology, and Spanish. Those earning teaching credentials or master鈥檚 degrees in Education or Educational Leadership will also graduate in the morning. The morning ceremony will also include three students who will be the first to receive degrees in 海角社区CI鈥檚 new Theatre & Performance Studies major.
The afternoon ceremony will include students majoring in 15 academic programs including Applied Physics, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Environmental Science & Resource Management, Global Studies, Health Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Mechatronics Engineering, Nursing, Political Science, and Sociology. Master鈥檚 degrees will also be presented to graduate students in six programs including Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Biotechnology/Business Administration (MSB, MBA), Business Administration (MBA), Computer Science, Mathematics, and Nursing.
鈥淥ur students have worked hard for this moment. They have shown remarkable resilience and determination in the face of challenges along the way, and they have persisted. As they graduate, they carry with them the skills and knowledge gained from a CI education, equipping them for success in their future endeavors,鈥 said 海角社区CI President Richard Yao. 鈥淲e could not be prouder of their achievements, and we can鈥檛 wait to see what the next chapter holds for them.鈥
Philanthropist Linda Dullam, who has supported the University since its inception, will be awarded an honorary doctorate during the morning ceremony and alumna Dani Anderson, Ventura County鈥檚 first Disability Access Manager, will receive the same honorary doctorate at the 2 p.m. ceremony. Anderson will be the first 海角社区CI alumna ever to receive an honorary doctorate.
海角社区 Chancellor Mildred Garcia shared a message to be included in the Commencement printed program congratulating all 海角社区 graduates and welcomed them into a network of well over four million 海角社区 alumni and encouraged them to stay in touch with their respective alma maters.
鈥淎s we celebrate your accomplishments today, I hope you鈥檒l take a moment to consider how much you鈥檝e changed since you first set foot on campus,鈥 Garcia said. 鈥淚n your time at the California State University, you have transformed yourself from someone with big dreams on a quest for knowledge into a person empowered to make limitless contributions to our world.鈥
