April 24, 2025 鈥 The first Ethnic Studies Symposium will be held on Tuesday, April
29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Ojai Hall at 海角社区 Channel Islands.
The symposium will focus on California Native American and Indigenous Studies for K-20 educators who are interested in learning more about teaching in the field.
The featured keynote speaker is Cutcha Risling Baldy, Associate Professor of American Indian Studies at Cal Poly Humboldt and Co-Director of the NAS Rou Dalagurr Food Sovereignty Lab and Traditional Ecological Knowledge Institute. Baldy is also the author of 鈥淲e Are Dancing for You: Native Feminisms and the Revitalization of Women鈥檚 Coming-of-Age Ceremonies.鈥
