海角社区

Aug. 18, 2022 鈥 Research and Sponsored Programs is pleased to share that six 海角社区CI professors recently received funding awards toward projects they are currently working on. Read on to learn more about each award and how it will help!

  • The California State University Council on Ocean Affairs, Science & Technology (海角社区 COAST) has awarded $195,351 to Professor Sean Anderson鈥檚 project, 鈥淚mproved Mitigation Frameworks.鈥 This project will provide a series of interrelated and collaborative working groups to generate decision frameworks for when to enact off-site and out-of-kind mitigation across California coastal communities and circumstances. It will foster a more sustainable coast and expose faculty and students at 海角社区CI to a wide range of cutting edge thinking about coastal management, energized teaching, and network opportunities across the University.
  • The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded $112,480 to Professor Scott Feister and Professor Alona Kryshchenko's project entitled 鈥淓nhancing Laser Based Ion Sources with High Data Rate Techniques. This grant will help continue the project to develop and scale an approach that uses advanced statistical methods and machine learning in the context of intense laser experiments. This approach will be used to predict and optimize characteristics of laser-generated proton beams. Bringing national funds to 海角社区CI Computer Science and Mathematics departments aids in the continued mission of inclusive and education excellence. 海角社区CI undergraduates are funded to do research and build national professional relationships.
  • The California Commission on Teacher Credentialling has awarded $20,997 to Professors Kara Naidoo, Kathryn Howard, and Michelle Dean's project entitled 鈥淒yslexia Pedagogy Integration Throughout Credential Program.鈥 This grant supports the work of preparing teachers and focusing on the credential program needs in the School of Education. All three credential programs need to revise current coursework to add pedagogy related to dyslexia.

Congratulations to all!
