July 10, 2025 鈥 California State University (海角社区) Chancellor Mildred Garc铆a has appointed
Susan A. Andrzejewski to serve as 海角社区鈥 interim
president. Andrzejewski, who currently serves as the university's dean of the Martin
V. Smith School of Business & Economics, will begin her new appointment on August
4, 2025.
鈥淒r. Andrzejewski is an innovative and collaborative leader, recognized for advancing student success through data-informed initiatives, experiential learning and regional partnerships,鈥 said Chancellor Garc铆a. 鈥淚n addition, she has been a trusted and strategic partner to outgoing President Richard Yao, demonstrating impressive university-wide leadership and undeniable strategic acumen. With her strong connections to 海角社区 Channel Islands and outstanding professional skills and personal qualities, Dr. Andrzejewski is the ideal person to lead the university through this time of transition.鈥
Andrzejewski joined 海角社区CI in 2014 as an assistant professor of marketing. In 2018, she was named interim dean of the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics and later named permanent dean in 2021.
As dean, she has led the school鈥檚 accreditation efforts, oversaw the development of two strategic plans, cultivated and strengthened a culture of shared governance, and spearheaded the revision of undergraduate curricula while preparing to launch an innovative business analytics graduate program in fall 2025, with additional graduate programs in digital marketing and accounting forthcoming.
She has also served as co-chair of the 海角社区CI 2030+ Strategic Planning Executive Leadership Committee, served on the steering committee for 海角社区CI鈥檚 WASC Senior College & University Commission accreditation efforts, and played a critical role in securing more than $22 million in philanthropic support for the university to advance institutional priorities including scholarships, faculty research and academic innovation. In addition鈥攁nd consistent with 海角社区 systemwide priorities鈥攕he led the President鈥檚 Task Force on Post-Graduate Outcomes, developing the 海角社区鈥檚 first comprehensive study linking high-impact educational practices to graduate employment outcomes and earnings.

Prior to her work at 海角社区CI, she was a tenured professor of marketing in the Business, Organizations and Society Department at Frankin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
After earning her bachelor鈥檚 degree in psychology at Bethany College, Dr. Andrzejewski went on to earn a master鈥檚 and Ph.D. in social psychology at Northeastern University.
At its July meeting, the 海角社区 Board of Trustees will be asked to approve Andrzejewski鈥檚 compensation as interim president. Andrzejewski will serve in the position until the board completes a national search for the university鈥檚 next regularly appointed president.
