URGENT: Federal Government Shutdown
Department of Veterans Affairs operations will continue. The VA estimates that 97% of its employees would keep working, so health care services at hospitals, clinics, and community programs would not be disrupted. Benefits like compensation, pensions, education support, and housing assistance would still be processed and paid, though regional benefits offices would close. Critical programs such as suicide prevention, caregiver assistance, and homelessness support would remain available, and burials in VA cemeteries would go on. However, veteran outreach to include Veteran Readiness and Employment (also known as Chapter 31 or VR&E) will be suspended. Hotlines would operate in a limited way—the Veterans Crisis Line and general benefits line would remain open, but the GI Bill hotline would close. More information can be found via the VA,
All University programs and activities are open and available to all regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.
